The Summer I Turned Pretty (NEVER ENDS)

Last week was officially the end of the series of The Summer I turned pretty, or was it? If you have been following the show or just on social media, it is really hard to miss out on a Wasian girl struggling to pick between two white boys. This show is about a girl named Isabel (Belly) who upgrades from invisible kid "sister" to the main character, which means she’s stuck in a love triangle with two brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah, all while trying not to trip over her own crushes. This show revolves around her trying to choose which brother. (spoilers ahead)

I do not want to get into it too deeply, and I would recommend watching it, even though it might be cringeworthy at times; we do it for the plot. So, season 3. The last season of the show. It started off pretty good with of course Belly rage-baiting us because she wanted to marry Jeremiah after he cheated on her because they were allegedly on a "break" but anyway she wanted to get married, and I feel like they prolonged that plot so much because if I am being so for real, I knew she was going to end up with Conrad. The only thing that pissed me off was the last few episodes of the show.

Why was it so rushed but also so slow? Like, there were so many irrelevant scenes, PLEASE TELL ME WHAT WAS THAT WHOLE AIR TAG COMMERCIAL. When she dropped her bag at immigration, I genuinely thought the ring went missing and she went to pick the ring up the way she was searching for it, but I guess not, she picked up her AirTag. This whole episode was lowkey irrelevant, like why was her bag going missing, and she was running after it almost the whole episode? Like we already knew, she was a mess, but this whole thing in Paris just proved us right. But I guess it was good character development because we see in the last two episodes that she has become a changed person. She seems more mature and responsible, especially because she is living alone now and not depending on the brothers anymore. Sure, Belly has a little fling with Benito while she’s in Paris, but honestly? He feels more like a side quest than a major plot twist. The moment he tries to level up the relationship by inviting her to Mexico to meet his grandma, Belly basically calls it quits.

So, are we surprised that in the last episode, she ends up with Conrad? TEAM CONRAD FOR THE WIN! Honestly, I also love Team Taylor and Steven; they are the most unproblematic couple. But a new couple emerged in the last episode, which was Jeremiah and Denise, lowkey have been seeing the tension between them since he moved into her place, and Denise hates Conrad, so this is perfect for them! So, Conrad and Belly end up together, hehe, and I love it, even though there are mixed reviews about the ending. I think it was perfect. Though there could have been a better build-up in the last few episodes, like her actually acknowledging his presents and letters instead of her revealing them in the last episode. I am not hating.

So, I wasn't expecting more, but I wanted more at the end. Like, yes, you ended up together, great! Now what? Well, don't worry, because we are getting a movie!! The message Jenny Han had for us at the end almost got me crying because this season was so special to me. At the beginning of the episode releases during the summer, I was watching the episodes with my friends back at home, and the recent episodes I was watching with my friends in college at the crack of dawn. Obviously, we had a watch party for the finale!

I am so excited for this movie! I do not know what is about to come, but I really hope it's a wedding, maybe? Either Taylor and Steven or Belly and Conrad, or better, both couples! I also want Laurel and John to officially get back together!
