To all the commuters

A few of my thoughts and observations as someone who spends a lot of time on public transit.
Reminders
There is something peaceful about those train rides to the city
My reflection is all I see within the slivers of light from outside
Through these slivers, I catch glimpses of other people's lives
The headlights of their cars
Their silhouette as they walk across a display window
And I, an observer passing by for just a second
stopping in the place they most likely call home
The roads slick with rain
The woman's coat covered with little droplets
The shoe print left behind in the aisle
Cooking dinner in their apartments
Che lit-up buildings
The lonely train yard
All reminders of a life being lived
Windows
I've spent my days looking out the windows of buses and trains
I've seen the seasons change from fall to winter to spring
In a constant routine and always rushing
These tracks have carried the weight of my burdens, heartbreaks, and betrayals
These roads have guided me to moments of comfort
Now, as the leaves start to change to warmer hues, I know my life will continue
In moments where I couldn't see the end, and in moments where my heart was full
