Wild Child played a sold out show at Chicago’s Lincoln Hall this past weekend. While the crazy blizzard began to form, fans braved the weather to come out and support the band. Everyone was able to experience a night of great music and performance.

Although I’ve been a fan of their music for a while, this was the first time that I’ve heard Wild Child perform live. The band was very energetic throughout their set. They were really fun and playful and their interaction with the crowd was especially entertaining.

At the show, the band performed with seven members: Kelsey Wilson (lead vocals and violin), Alexander Beggins (lead vocals and ukulele), a cellist, a keyboardist, a bassist, a drummer, and a trumpet player. I really liked the fact that the band had such a diverse selection of instruments because it really added to the their sound.
The band played songs from both of their albums Pillow Talk and The Runaround. They also surprised their fans by playing a few of their new songs that are not featured on their albums.

Although I was originally there to see Wild Child perform, the band’s opening acts captivated me as well. These bands were equally as talented and a pleasure to watch. The first opening band was a solo artist named James Tillman. His set consisted of him performing solo pieces with an electric guitar.

The second band to open for Wild Child was the band called Pearl and the Beard. This band was incredible. They are a “folk-pop trio” consisted of Jocelyn Mackenzie on percussion, Emily Hope Price on the cello, and Jeremy Styles on the acoustic guitar. All three are vocals.

For Wild Child‘s last song, they invited their friends back on stage to have one big finale. Pearl and the Beard and James Tillman joined the band to sing one last song before ending the show altogether.

Overall, this concert was so enjoyable to watch. The one thing that was bad about seeing these bands live is the fact that I will never be able to listen to their songs in the same way ever again. Their live performance was so amazing that their recorded versions will never be as satisfying.
