Tarot One at a Time, Part 4

Welcome back to my tarot learning series! We started the year with some heavy Capricorn energy, which looked like an unexpected need for more responsibility and structure in your life. Venus officially entered Aquarius on January 17 and will stay there until February 10! This will play as a beautiful transition from rigidity, to balancing both structure and freedom. We will be introduced to new social dynamics that helps us express love in different ways. Explore, get to know people, and have fun!

This week's cards are The Hermit, Justice, and The Wheel of Fortune.

(Quick note: upright means the card appears straight; reversed means it appears upside down.)

THE HERMIT IX

Card Description: There is an old, cloaked man holding out a lamp with one hand and using staff for support with the other. He seems calm and introspective while still journeying forward. He symbolizes a clear need for seeking self-truth while isolating oneself. Isolation is a big part of The Hermit's core essence and plays a role in both upright and reversed meanings.

Upright: You are questioning using alone time as a tool, or a sudden need for space has entered your life. Taking time for yourself is important so that you can have some sort of breakthrough.

Relationships: Wherever you are in a relationship, taking a step back to really evaluate it is beneficial. Is it balanced, overly giving, transactional, etc.? This isn't a negative and can even make the relationship stronger.

Finances: You’re looking at your sources of income in a different view; it doesn’t directly support your ‘happiness’. You might want to change the source or cut it off all together.

Self-Growth: You are entering a phase of valuable introspection that will lead to finding your true purpose. Fearing this change and avoiding it will backfire, accept and grow.

Reversed: You still find yourself wanting introspection in your lonesome, but it would be better to avoid that. You are distancing yourself from others can end up worsening whatever state you’re in.

Relationships: Unlike upright, the space in a relationship is being forced on you. You might feel resistant and feel indescribable inner turmoil, it’s important you really evaluate the relationship and use the time to examine who you are without that person. Finances: You’re work/source of income is isolating, you took the temporary introspection (Upright Hermit) and dragged it. You might feel forced to take on this role as a necessity despite feeling alienated amongst coworkers. Self-Growth: It’s important you get out of the solitude reversed hermit indicates, remaining comfortable for too long only results in stagnancy.

The Wheel of Fortune X

Card Description: A wheel surrounded by 4 beings (angel, eagle, bull, lion) each representing 4 fixed signs (Aquarius, Scorpio, Taurus, Leo). There are intricate symbols around the wheel.

Upright: Life is made in balance, just as there is good there is bad. It’s important you enjoy your happiness and success to the fullest because and eventual fall is normal. During bad times it’s important you understand that this is also fleeting and not permanent.

Relationships: you’ll be put in a position where your relationship will be tested, it’s important you understand that everything is temporary. The ‘test’ you will go through will bring unexpected but amazing change. This change might not be what you want in the moment, but it will be worth it.

Finances: If you were dealing with trouble surrounding money, it’s important you understand that this isn’t permanent. If you’re too comfortable with your money, it’s important you set aside some money just in case. Self-Growth: Make choices you will grow with. Accept that stability isn’t everything and that those who seek what they want boldly are favored.

Reversed: This card indicates that luck hasn’t been on your side recently, it feels like no matter what you do everything results in misfortune. Accept that not everything works the way we want it to and this won’t be forever. Relationships: Something is preventing your ability to form a relationship at this time, don’t force it. Putting a pause on this aspect of your life while you work on other things isn’t bad.

Finances: You are dealing with bad intentions from others surrounding your finances, maybe a betrayal of some kind. It’s important you save money on the side regardless.

Self-Growth: This is a time to take control of your life by not leaving things to chance. Put in your everything to reevaluate parts of your life that are holding you back so you can come out fortunate.

Justice XI

Card Description: A crowned woman sits proudly on a throne holding an upright sword with her right hand and a scale with her left. She represents utmost truth without bias. Ignoring the truth (scale) leads to ‘punishment’ (double edged sword).

Upright: Judgment is unavoidable, but your actions that are being judged aren’t. When this card appears upright, justice approaches you. You will be put in a situation where your truth will come out, but if you are the offender, this card serves as a warning. It gives you time to change your actions or show remorse to who you offended.

Relationships: This can signal an introduction of new relationships that are a positive reflection of the work you’ve been putting in yourself. It’s important that whatever problems arise in your relationship don’t drag on and define it; you have to work through it so either of you doesn’t wrong the other.

Finances: It serves as a reminder to keep your means of making money or your career path honest. This includes avoiding deception for temporary goods, because it will not last if you decide to continue down that path. If everything is just you will be fine.

Self-Growth: Take this time to evaluate your integrity and where you stand. If you have actions that lie heavy on you or if someone has wronged you, take this time to discuss and hear the other person. Remain honest with yourself.

Reversed: You’re in a state of refusal, refusal to accept your wrongs and make up for them. In order to balance the scale, you need to find ways to center justice/honesty. Constant guilt doesn’t equate to meaningful change.

Relationships: This can mean holding the other person to a standard they never agreed to or fit in previous to your relationship. It’s unfair to expect others to change on your terms. This can also mea the other person was deceitful an made you hold high expectations only to let you down. Either way, it’s important you move on from this situation.

Finances: You might be being blamed for something you didn’t do, or your finances might be in trouble. It’s important you keep a close eye on who you trust around your finances.

Self-Growth: You’re being called for some introspection so that you can evaluate anything you might be in denial about. If you feel guilty about something, please talk about it with the person so you can make active changes. I can also see this card pairing with the hermit really well!
